Project - Battlefields
I found all these names, characters and sentences sculptured on the wall of a building in Xiang Shan Park, Beijing in a winter day 2007.
Most of them were Chinese family names; others were words people felt like using when they tried to pour their heart out to their companion. Looking at each of the image here, you probably can tell what kind of story that was happening between the "Artistes".
During the shooting session, there was a moment when I took a step back and tried to look for my next framing....it was at that particular moment that I realized just how monumental these sculptures were! Hundred of people unknown to each other left their vows or oaths on a wall which turned a small nowhere corner, through time and un-coordinated action, into a piece of collaborative art!
May be the place was indeed a battlefield....... a battlefield of hope, a battlefield of dreams, love, destiny.....I kept wondering when I was on my way back.
